Families that had no permanent income would send their children to work as bonded labourers in the weaving industry. In the early days, Hand in Hand would conduct evening school for these children. To keep the children in school, they extended their vision to include the whole family – addressing issues of community health, skills development and eventually, job creation.
Today, Hand In Hand India is rewriting the story of rural India by alleviating poverty and creating jobs.
